Poem: Why I Go (to the Ashland Growers Market)

Ashland Growers Market, downtown on summer Saturdays

Poem: Why I Go (to the Ashland Growers Market)

Why I Go

(to the Ashland Growers Market)

I go to the Growers Market
for the vibrant freshness of colorful vegetables
(and the radiant people)
.

I look forward to the Growers Market
for the flavorful fresh baked goods
(and the fresh heart-felt conversations).

I am happy to find at the Growers Market
humanely raised local meat
(even though I don’t eat it).

I am stimulated at the Growers Market
by creative craftspeople and chefs
(a place to find gifts unique).

The local Growers Market uplifts our community
from being passive consumers
of industrial packaged food
to being active participants
in the hands-on, co-created
circle of life.

Ashland Growers Market, funny sign
I love this sign I saw several years ago at the Ashland Growers Market. (photo by Peter Finkle, 2018)
